I was recently commissioned by Unconvention, to produce a poster celebrating their latest event held at Manchester Metropolitan University (The University where I studied Fine Art).

The brief was to produce a 2 colour screen print that will be given out at the event. As you may already know I am mancunian, and have a great affinity to my city (even though I no longer live in the city) Every Mancunian knows the icon for the city is a worker bee.

Coming from the days of the cotton mill industry. It was an obvious starting point for me to include this icon! The aim of Unconvention events, are to draw upon the creative communities to share and pass on knowledge. With this concept in mind, it was a simple thought to produce a hive.

The hive symbolising a place where all creativity meets and is created, the bees (the attendees) The 2 colour limited edition screen print will be available at the event only. Limited edition of 100 prints.

As part of the commission, I was asked to take part in a panel regarding creativity. I am honoured to be asked in the first place, and doubly honoured to sit alongside some heavyweight names within the creative and scientific world!

The panel - Aniff Akinola (Songwriter / Producer) Dr Simon Parry (Institute for Cultural Practices) Nick Rhodes (Me! Designer) Dr Aravind Vijayaraghavan (The Graphene Project) Stephen McCusker (Architect) Malcolm Garrett (Designer)
